How to get to Bocas del Toro

From Montreal by Air via Panama City with Copa Air & Panama Air

Take a direct flight with Copa Airlines, arriving around 2pm, stay the night in Panama City Hostel (we recommend taking a Uber to  Mangolia Inn) and take a 1h flight to Bocas Town the following morning (6:30am, 9am or 2pm). From Bocas airport you will take a 1$ taxi to the pier and the free shuttle boat to Bastimentos Island. The return is gonna be easier because you can catch the morning flight to Panama city and fly direct to Montreal with Copa around 6pm. (Approximate costs Roundtrip 760$ > YUL-PYT return flight 500$, Uber return 40$, Flight to Bocas return from 220$ )

From Panama City by Land

From the airport take Uber to go to Albrook Bus Station (Gran Terminal de Transporte) You can catch the night bus from there Panama City to Changuinola and ask to be dropped at Almirante which is about 30min before the final destination of the bus. From Almirante take the boat to Bocas Town (15minutes/3$)

From Costa Rica by Land

Caribe Shuttle is a really good way to travel by land from pretty much anywhere in Costa Rica straight to Bocas del Toro including lunch in Puerto Viejo and border crossing assistance. They take you to Bocas Town and from there you take a 10min free boat to Palmar Bocas and you home for the next 12 days!

From Costa Rica by Air

You can fly with Nature Air from SJO airport. They seem to be very expensive and not very well rated…

Please feel free to contact gabsyogashak@gmail.com or erinapompetti@gmail.com if you need more info on how to get to Palmar Bocas!
